28

somehow, 28 weeks have gone by and i'm only 12 weeks away from meeting this little gymnastic loving babe. let me tell you. this kid is NOT a soccer player or a football player. this kid is a gymnast who has already mastered the trampoline that is my bladder. especially from 3-4 in the morning. which is fine. i get up like 8 times and neither evan or i get any real sleep, but luckily i'm in bed by 9 these days. so i've pretty much gotten a full night's rest before this little performance starts.

besides that, this week is SO much better than last week. friday, when i thought my body was going to crumple up and give out, i laid on the couch for the entire evening and did not move and the pain promptly went away. and hasn't been back since. i even had a huge rush of energy this week and NO ONE told me about the third trimester energy, so.

also, evan and i got down to business and we bought a crib, dresser, rocking chair and rug for the nursery. we have a plan to demolish and reconstruct our bathroom [STARTING THIS WEEKEND THANK GOD] and we have a list of things to get done around the house before baby. all we needed was a little bit of "ONLY TWELVE WEEKS LEFT OH MY GOSH" motivation to snap us into reality. i'm super anxious to finish the nursery so i can just hang out in there. it's currently full of boxes of things that need assembling and i have too many ideas rolling around in my head about decorations and pictures and a mobile. BUT. i'm setting us a deadline just in case this baby decides that 12 weeks is too long.

evan and i have also started getting up earlier and eating breakfast together [well, he goes to the gym and i roll out of bed right before he comes home like the lazy bum i am] and it's my favorite part of the day. it's way better to sit and enjoy breakfast rather than rush through it while i do my hair and make up. and he makes the best spinach and mushroom omelets.

if i could go back and tell my 18-year-old self one thing, it would be to NOT pierce your damn belly button! i have not had jewelry in that stupid thing in years and it will not close up and really just wants to be the center of attention. but my belly button that can't decide if it's an innie or an outtie or just a flattie is the real center of attention around here.

  1. I love that photo of you!

I am so glad that you are feeling better and that you have so much energy. That is absolutely great. You should definitely post photos of the nursery (and bathroom) when you are done. I am sure they will both look amazing!! I'm so excited for you and I can't believe that you only have twelve weeks left! That is insane!!

  2. Glad you got that burst of energy...I never did, the entire pregnancy! And yes, the belly button ring, yuck! I took mine out when I found out I was pregnant and, just wait, it gets ugly after baby is here. Just a fore-warning! This is about the time when you realize that baby actually could be here in 10 weeks and you need to kick it in the butt! Just wait for your baby shower. You will think you are caught up and then you have to find places for all those awesome goodies from friends and family! Good luck with the next 12 weeks :)

    1. That burst of energy lasted one whole minute because I'm right back to being in a love affair with my bed slash naps! I seriously hate that stupid belly ring. What was I thinking?! Lame. And it's only going to be worse? Lovely. Hahaha

  3. Yay for new energy! I can't WAIT to see what you do with the nursery (and the bathroom--makeovers are just fun . . . once they're finished and all that :] ). I know both will look amazing!
AH! TWELVE WEEKS! That's like three months! The last stretch! Holy cow! YAY!!!!
I can't believe you've managed to go all this time without learning baby's gender--no technician accidental peeks, no caving to the suspense. Go you! Awesome!

Your note about your belly button made me giggle. You seem to hear a lot about belly buttons when it comes to pregnancy . . .

Here's wishing you a fabulous last trimester! YAAAAAY!!!!

    1. I can't wait to see what I do with it either! ;] hahaha we don't exactly have a plan besides put up new sheet rock and get a new vanity. The rest is up in the air. Obviously going to work out, probably.
I have recently really been super eager to know what were having! And I think maybe the only reason I haven't found out is because I've come this far. But I wonder if maybe I'd want to know if I were to start this over again. Hahaha oh well. Soon!

  4. This had me cracking up! I totally had a ”flatty”. Lol And I attempted to keep my belly ring in the whole time, but it just came right out all that flatness. So funny! Youre making me miss having a baby in my belly. <3

    1. I had never even heard of a "flatty" before! I thought they automatically popped! So funny! It's still flat unless the baby is super low, then it goes in a little bit. Bodies are crazy, man!
