read

33. the history of love, by nicole krauss.
i need someone to explain this book to me. i.......didn't get it. like, who is who's dad and who is the girl named after and what the heckfire. i did love the little brother though. probably, i took like 51 years to read it, so.....just someone explain it.

34. room, by emma donoghue.
i loved the first part of this book but i felt like the ending was rushed, or the climax was rushed. something was rushed. such a unique way to write this book, from the perspective of a child who only knows Room.

35. the land of decoration, by grace mccleen.
i really, really liked this book. again with the point of view from the child. there were lots of parts where i cried, which i always love for some morbid reason.  i had to infer a lot in the end because that's the kind of book it is (at least for me who refuses to believe that this could ever happen) and it still leaves me wondering and confused. but it's okay. the ending was perfect.

36. by the iowa sea, by joe blair.
this. i can't even. this book was amazing. it's about a family (written by the father) and son with autism. i loved his writing and the style of his writing. like, james frey. only, not james frey. this was the first book on "memoirs, a recommendation for you" sent to me by amazon and usually those things are full of sports memoirs (no, thanks) and random B list celebrities but this. this was there and i 1) liked the name (there are no sea's in iowa, silly!) and 2) liked the cover (snob). both of those things turned out to have GREAT BOOK right behind them.

i am just trucking along with these here books. but yes. i am still reading the lovely bones and how to read the air. i cannot concentrate when i read the lovely bones. i seriously get so distracted because it's.......slow. i'll get really into it and then have to put it down then i won't pick it up for weeks and weeks. we'll see how i feel when i'm finished, but right now it's not a favorite. i'm also thinking about reading the road and never knowing and little bee. i have these on sample on my kindle and i just cannot decide.
GIVE ME RECOMMENDATIONS NOW, PLEASETHANKYOU.

  2. I love reading your book reviews!
I always thought Room looked great, and I've been wanting to read "Lovely Bones." I can't wait to see what you think :]
I haven't read any great fiction, lately--rereading Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz, but it's supernatural fiction. An easy read, funny, sweet, and suspenseful.
Can't wait to see more reviews! :]

    1. I literally finished "the lovely bones" the next morning. Jumped the gun a bit on this post. ;] haha it was ok. Just ok. This is a weird way to put it but I felt like it was underwater. You know how everything is slower underwater? That's how it felt to me. I dont know what I'm talking about. Hahaha it was a good story, but I felt like the huge part happened in the beginning and then nothing. I was told by two people AS I WAS BUYING IT that it was so good and omg you'll love it. So I think I had too high of expectations? Maybe. I don't know.

  3. Okay first. Let's all be honest and agree that duh, we judge a book by its cover. How can you NOT?! If the cover sucks major suckage, well, too bad. Also, I L O V E books that make me cry also for some morbid reason, but I really think it's part of the introvert of us: we love to feel. Or, just you and me: we love to feel. Anything, all of it, now. But actually, I just love tragedy. I love crying. It's stupid and painful and weird. Really weird. Anyway, I'll need to check your list but a few books: The Book Thief, Crossing to Safety, uhhh Wild at Heart. The last one isn't a novel, but changed my life. Oh one more, Still Alice. You will cry your eyes out. La la love, Cara

    1. Exactly! I tried to not judge a book by its cover, but I can't. It's too hard! Thank God for the Kindle because I never see the covers as I'm browsing. Hahaha I read still Alice! I hated the pages. Hahaha I'm such a snot. It was so sad and I wanted to slap her husband like, the whole time. I'll definitely check out your books. Thanks lady!

Hey, I've been following you for a while, (actually I came across your blog because my name is Larissa too! I just go by Elle for privacy/security reasons on the blog) Anyway, I'd love if you'd check out my site, and let me know what you think of my recent post! Also, if you'd like, I'd love to have you follow back and become a reader. Thanks :)

  5. Wow, I can't say that I've read or even heard of any of these books, but I love new recommendations so I will have to look into them. I recommend The Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong KIngston which I just read. It's this phenomenally written memoir.

  7. You seem to find the most interesting books that I've never even heard of!
I'm also convinced that I could never read The Lovely Bones. Ever. I have serious issues with women's violence in books. I feel books more deeply than I do movies, so I'm careful with my choices. I also couldn't ever read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for this reason.
Right now I'm reading "The Power of Six" sequel to "I Am Number Four." I'm liking it. The movie leaves out so much.
Next I plan on reading Divergent and Pandemonium. I might be stuck in a genre rut. But I like it. So I might not be the best for suggestions. Haha!

    1. I cannot read girl with the dragon tattoo because you have 12 seconds go capture my attention, not a whole book. I don't even know what it's about, truthfully. I didn't think that the lovely bones was overly violent but i can definitely understand where you're coming from. You should not read room, then! I have heard about divergent but I don't know anything about it! You're going to have to let me know how it is!

    2. Ok! Won't read Room. Gotcha.
I will as soon I start it. Might read Pandemonium first though cause I've been dying to read it since I finished Delirium! NeedtoknowwhathappensnextcauseI'mdyinghere!
Basically I heard Dragon Tattoo is about a murder mystery, but then you learn all about the girl who helps solve the murder and there is a ton of rape and violence in her past, so therfore...I can not do it. Just can't, but I've heard many people loved it.
